Follow the yellow brick road...

Finally,we have arrived!!

My first impression: This place is grand! The weather when we arrived yesterday

couldn't be more perfect. The campus itself, or what I've seen so far, is a real beauty, lot's of green, mostly new buildings and a small swedish castle right beside the place where I live.

The only real "downside" is our accomodation, some people here have two room apartments,
which are like two bedrooms and a small living room.
We only got a shared apartment but as long as I can live on campus, that's not really that much of a problem for me.

But first things first, we had quite a trip the last 2 days:

Day 1
Couldn't really get any sleep from Sunday to Monday so I got up at about 5:30 a.m. to
get some coffee and clean up the the rest of my room.

Jägermeister and a satellite navigation device

I stashed all my stuff into the car afterwards and drove off to pick up André at the train
station at about 9 a.m..

We hit the road at about 9:30 and then drove 12 hours straight up north.
Well, okay, not entirely straight... :)

Somewhere between Nürnberg and Hannover, I finally managed to realize that my apartment key-chain was still dangling from the car key stuck in the ignition. bummer.

We've been driving for far too long already to turn back again, so we decided to put the keys into an envelope and send them back to Nürnberg.
A bit further down the road, I took one of the driveway exits right before Hamburg, where we found a mail-shop on the outskirts of Hamburg city.

Luckily, from that point on it all went really smooth.

Crossing the two insanely huge bridges in Denmark was by far one of the most amazing sceneries I have seen in a long time. I managed to shoot some impressive video footage which I'll edit and post on here somewhere down the road.

We arrived in Copenhagen at around 10 p.m. and fell face forward into our relatively small bunk beds of our even smaller double room accomodation at Danhostel Amagar.
Not that bad for a hostel though, I've had worse.

There's still a lot to show and tell but I'm just a bit swamped with work right now.

This is it!

Well, I never thought I'd be doing this - but here it is: My first Blog ever!! (I'm so proud)

For anyone who's new, I'll just start with a short wrap-up:
About 6 months ago (to be a bit more concise: February 2009),
I finally decided to go abroad,to spend a semester studying information systems at Växjö University, Sweden.
I had a talk with students spending their winter semester there a year earlier and I also
talked to a professor of mine, which had also spent time there lecturing at university.

Well, apparently they must have left a good impression on me, here I am writing this blog with Sweden just two days away.

Why Sweden?
Why not? Not only is Sweden known for it's IKEA furniture and elk infestation,
Sweden also enjoys an excellent reputation for its education.
There's no tuition fee to pay and since I'll be taking part in the erasmus program,
I even get paid for leaving the country. ;)

Furthermore, I'm really interested in learning the Swedish language,
which isn't even a prerequisite, since every single person over there seems to
enjoy better education in that regard than we do over here (sorry Germany).

But liquor and beer seem to be really expensive over there!
Yeah, that's what everyone's telling me all the time, except for the people
which have been at Växjö campus last semester, surprisingly all that they
were talking about is how much beer they drank, on 4 days a week. :)

Why do you post your blogs in English?
Well, obviously to impress everybody with how elaborate my English writing actually is. :)
Nah, not really - I just thought it would be a really good practice and believe it or not,
I have relatives over in the states, they might want to read this blog now and then.

What's next?
Tomorrow's my last day here in Germany, so over the course of the next six months,
this is the place to go if you're actually interested enough to keep track of all the beautiful places and people I'll be going to see.

Departure will be 9 a.m. tomorrow morning, our first goal being the city of Copenhagen to stay in a hostel for the night.
I'll post some more pictures as I see fit, just keep coming people. :)
